I'm an Acupuncturist ... Here's why I don't recommend Chinese herbs

I admit. I'm a bit of a heretic.

Who ever heard of an acupuncturist discouraging people from taking traditional Chinese herbal formulas?? 😜

Well, it's personal. And, here's why:

Traditional Chinese herbal formulas have been used for thousands and thousands of years to promote health and well being. Some doctors of traditional Chinese medicine ONLY prescribe herbs to help patients heal, and nothing else.

It is a true art and precise science to prescribe the specific herbs needed for your particular health condition, distinct symptoms and unique needs.

Your health history, unique constitution and specific needs are super important when it comes to using powerful and potent herbs, especially in combination. This is NOT a one-size-fits-all medicine. What makes you special MATTERS when it comes to taking Chinese herbal medicine.

You need a QUALIFIED and LICENSED practitioner of Chinese Medicine to formulate a concoction to meet your needs, and yours alone. If you rely on Dr. Google to diagnose and prescribe a traditional Chinese herbal formula, you may cause more harm to your health than good.

Additionally, when I DO prescribe patent Chinese herbal formulas for my patients, I do my homework to make sure that the facility where they are produced is taking extraordinary measures to screen the herbs for contaminants, heavy metals, pesticides and other nasties that we don't want to take as medicine. I do NOT trust the majority of herbal formulas made in China for safety and purity. And, honey, you simply CANNOT tell if an herbal company has integrity from their pretty pictures and sales hype. And, because Amazon has so many supplement companies selling products that are counterfeit, I would not trust glowing reviews from products on Amazon or Instagram, either.

Don't get me wrong, traditional Chinese Medicine is magical and can trump almost anything Western medicine has to offer, especially for chronic conditions. But, you must do it right. Find a qualified acupuncturist or doctor of Chinese Medicine who has years of clinical experience prescribing Chinese herbal formulas. You'll need a thorough consultation and specific instructions on how to take your herbs and for how long.

I am an acupuncturist that happens to love ACUPUNCTURE and everyday food and wellness cures

Instead of simply "treating" you with Chinese herbal formulas, my passion and calling is in teaching you how to take care of yourself naturally using simple and effective self care strategies that you can use for the rest of your life. No matter what life throws your way, I want to empower you and inspire you with your own self care tool kit -- foods, rituals, and simple, delicious practices and everyday resources that you can consistently use to take care of yourself for a lifetime of wellness.

It simply doesn't make sense to me to offer you a Chinese herbal formula when you're eating a diet of fast food, sodas, chili cheese dogs and Jack Daniels, getting less than 6 hours of sleep a night ... and count pulling the lever on your recliner as a form of exercise. 🤨

Health, wellness and self care is a lifestyle, not a pill, a tea or a one time act. There are so many wonderful acupuncturists and herbalists available to consult with you about herbs and formulas. That's not where I can best serve you, and I know it. I am here to help you learn the many ways you can chill out, get healthy and feel beautiful for the rest of your life.

I give you the tools you need to transform the way you eat, move, think, care for and love yourself for a lifetime ... not simply an herbal formula that you take for a few weeks or months while continuing the habits or patterns that created your stress and disharmony in the first place.

Find a qualified practitioner to prescribe your Chinese herbs for when you're sick or unwell or simply want a prescription.

Call on me to help you learn to truly love and care for yourself on a daily basis to stay well naturally, for a lifetime of health, beauty and wellness.
